Chief Minister Kamal Nath will lay foundation of Rooftop Solar Energy Plant of 650 KW capacity in Central Police Training Academy on Friday, June 28. The academy will get electricity at minimum rate of Rs 1.38 per unit. The plant is being installed in cooperation with the MP Urja Vikas Nigam.
It may be mentioned that renewable energy is being constantly promoted in the state. About 4500 megawatt electricity i.e. about one fifth part of the total electricity in the state is being produced currently by solar power, wind power, biomass energy and small hydro power projects.
During the last 6 months, various offices of the State and Central government have come forward to get the solar power plant installed in their offices through RESCO model including Telephone Exchange and airport. A solar power plant has been installed in a record period of 2 months in Khadi evam Gramodyog Board. Initiative has been taken to use solar power in Government Medical Colleges too. The Urja Vikas Nigam has completed the procedure necessary for agreement. Similarly, preparation has been completed to run water treatment plant located at VIP Road by solar power.
