To avail benefits of industrialisation for the people of Boudh district, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday inaugurated the State’s first grain-based distillery plant at Harabhanga in the district under the ‘Make in Odisha’ programme.
Spread over 35 acres of land, the project includes a 2X60 kilo litter per day (KLPD) Extra Neutral Alcohol production capacity and 2x2.5 megawatt captive power plant which would create direct and indirect jobs for youths.
The Chief Minister inaugurated the first-ever large scale industry in Boudh district through videoconferencing at his office (CMO) in Bhubaneswar in the presence of company Chairman Uday Shankar Prasad.
A replica of it was unveiled in the plant premises where district Collector Lalatendu Mishra and company MD Ritesh Sahu were present.
Speaking on the occasion, Collector Mishra said, “This is a proud moment for the district that finally the first industry of Boudh is established.
It will be catalyst in growth of Boudh.”
The project will not only create thousands of jobs for the locals but also benefit the grain farmers financially as it would require 125 tonnes of broken rice daily.
The broken rice, which is not consumed, is now being procured by the plant,giving extra income tofarmers.
The distillery not only produces ENA but also the fermented rice after extracting ENA produces a by-
product called DDGS (Distillers Dried Grain with Soluble) which has protein content up to 40 per cent and used as animal feed. It also produces ethanol to support bio-fuel drive of Government to reduce atmospheric pollution.
