Sumant Choudhary, Secretary of Government of India's Coal Ministry, on Thursday chaired a review meeting for coal blocks allotted to public sector companies of state and progress of SECL's coal block.
In the ninth meeting of monitoring committee organized here, information regarding the status of pending proceedings related to coal blocks was taken from officials concerned.
In the meeting, Chhattisgarh Chief Secretary Sunil Kumar Kujur was present in the meeting. It was decided in the meeting that Collectors, Revenue Department, Environment and Forest Department Officials of the respective districts of the coal blocks will have joint meeting once in a month to review progress in redressal of pending cases.
Moreover, to initiate coal mining in given time frame, pending formalities will be completed soon.
In the meeting, pending cases related to land acquisition, environment and forest department's approval, public hearing, compensation distribution etc of public sector companies, to whom coal blocks were allotted but their work has not started yet, were reviewed in detail.
Coal block allotment to Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited, Rajasthan Power Production Corporation Limited, Maharashtra Power Generation Company Limited, Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited, Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation Limited was reviewed.
The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Forest CK Khetan, Secretary Mineral Resources Gaurav Dwivedi, Secretary Revenue NK Khakha, Director Mineral KC Devsenapati, Special Secretary Environment P Sangeeta, Chhattisgarh Power Corporation Limited Chairman Shailendra Shukla, Government of India's Coal Ministry Joint Secretary Ashish Kumar and representatives of Power Generation Companies.
