A first year student of the RP +2 Science Residential College in the Athagarh area has died under mysterious circumstances.
The deceased, identified as Suryakant Samal of Dhenkanal, was a hostel inmate in the college. The college authorities said Suryakant attempted to commit suicide on Sunday, following which he was admitted to the Maniabandha hospital, where doctor declared him dead.
The Principal of the college said a suicide note was found in which it was mentioned that the student took the extreme step due to family disturbance.
However, Suryakant’s family members alleged that he was murdered and lodged an FIR in this regard with the Maniabandha police.
