Three work proposals for the Kumbh Mela 2021 in Haridwar were granted approval in a meeting of the expenditure-finance committee presided over by the chief secretary Utpal Kumar Singh here on Friday.
In view of the Kumbh Mela 2021, the committee granted approval to the proposal for construction of Astha Path on the right bank of Ganga from Deen Dayal parking to Chandi Devi bridge. This project is proposed to be undertaken at a cost of Rs 2,070.60 lakh.
The committee also granted its approval to another proposal submitted by the state’s urban development department. The department has proposed repair/renovation and strengthening of 23.70 kilometre road from Veerbhadra barrage in Rishikesh to Chandi Ghat in Haridwar. This project is proposed to be executed at a cost of Rs 1,329.29 lakh.
The third proposal submitted by the urban development department was regarding renovation of Astha Path and flood protection works at Rishikesh in Doiwala block of Dehradun district. Works under this project are proposed to be executed at a cost of Rs 1,157.65 lakh. The State planning commission has also granted its recommendation for the three works accorded approval by the committee on Friday.
The urban development secretary Shailesh Bagauli, finance secretary Amit Singh Negi, planning additional secretary Yogendra Yadav, technical expert GP Pant and officials of the departments concerned were also among those present in the meeting.
