In the viral video clip of Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat’s address during the convocation at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee in which the President Ram Nath Kovind was the chief guest, the police have lodged a complaint against a Pauri resident for allegedly editing and sharing it on social media.

According to the information provided by the police, Dehradun resident Anil Kumar Pandey filed a written complaint at Nehru Colony police station stating that the clip of the CM’s address had been edited to distort his speech. In the complaint he said that the edited video shows CM addressing the President as ‘Shrimati’, whereas in reality he used the title to address the president’s wife. He also alleged that video was shared by a Pauri resident Ayush Kukreti, after which the story was also run by a television news channel. He also mentioned that the allegedly edited video was shared on social media on October 5, a day after the IIT convocation.

Nehru Colony police has filed the case under the section 74 of IT Act and 469 of the Indian Penal Code. District police are now checking the video narrative.
