Congress’s official candidate Deepak Baij and Bahujan Samaj Party leader Ayturam Mandavi collected nomination papers for the Bastar Lok Sabha constituency on Monday, the first day of issuance of notification for the first phase of elections.
The Bastar LS seat is reserved for the Scheduled Tribe.
Returning officer and collector Dr Ayyaz Tamboli issued the notification. The last date for filing of nomination is March 25 and date of polling is April 11.
As per the notification, the candidates or their proposers can file the nomination papers from March 18 to March 25 from 11.00 am to 3.00 pm in room number 38, court of collector, before the RO or assistant returning officer Praveen Verma.
The candidates can obtain the nomination forms from room no 38 on the specified dates and time by submitting Rs 12500.
For candidates from recognised political parties, one proposer and for non-recognised political parties or independent candidate 10 proposers should sign the nomination papers. It is mandatory that name of the proposer should be registered in the electoral list of the Lok Sabha seat.
The scrutiny of nomination papers is scheduled on March 26. The candidate or proposer or authorised representative of the candidate can withdraw the nomination on March 28 till 3.00 pm. If there is a requirement for polling, then it would be held on April 11.
Under Bastar parliamentary constituency, for assembly segements of Kondagaon, Narayanpur, Bastar and Jagdalpur, the polling will be held from 7.00 am to 5.00 pm.
Similarly, in assembly segments of Chitrakote, Dantewada, Bijapur and Konta the polling will be held from 7.00 am to 3.00 pm.
