Cong promoting dynastic politics, says Pathak

Monday, 18 March 2019 | PNS | Lucknow

Hitting out at Congress decision not to field candidates in seven constituencies of Uttar Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party said that its charge that the grand old party, the Samajwadi Party and the Rashtriya Lok Dal promoted dynastic politics was proved by the way these parties had left seats for families.

“We have been saying it for many years that the SP, the RLD and the Congress promote families.  The charge has been proved correct in this election. The Congress claims that it is fighting against the mahagathbandhan of SP, BSP and RLD but this is false as these political entities have decided not to field candidates against Yadavs, Chaudhary and Gandhi,” BJP state general secretary Vijay Bahadur Pathak said.

Congress state president Raj Babbar announced that Congress will not field candidates from seven constituencies where family members of Yadavs and Chaudharys are in the fray.

These Lok Sabha seats include that of Mainpuri from where Mulayam Singh Yadav will contest; Kannauj where the alliance has fielded Dimple Yadav, wife of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav; and Firozabad where Akshay Yadav, the SP chief’s s cousin is in fray.

The Congress also declared that it will not field candidate against BSP supremo Mayawati, if she wishes to contest.

Besides, the Congress will not field candidates against RLD chief Ajit Singh (Muzaffarnagar) and his son Jayant Chaudhry (Baghpat).

RLD will contest three seats in UP.

It is believed that Jayant’s wife Charu will contest from Mathura, therefore Congress has decided not to field candidate in one more seat but it did not reveal the name of the constituency.

Incidentally, Congress has fielded candidate from Budaun, where Dharmendra Yadav, another cousin of Akhilesh, is in the fray.

“This is how these parties work,” Pathak said. “The SP-BSP alliance has decided not to field candidates in Amethi and Rae Bareli from where members of Gandhi family will contest the polls and the Congress, in a reciprocal gesture, decided not to field candidates against Yadav and Chaudhary family members,” Pathak said.

The BJP leader said the strategy of these parties was to help each grow and become rich. He said when Congress was in power, the SP and the BSP were two clutches of the United Progressive Alliance government and all these parties enjoyed loot money and during demonetisation of high value currency notes, lost their ill-gotten money in one stroke.

“People can read the mind of these leaders and will teach these parties a lesson,” he said.
