The State unit of the Congress has expressed its reservation on the decision of the State Government to make the upcoming State foundation day a mega event.
The Uttarakhand Government is planning to organise week long programme to celebrate the 20th State foundation day.
Speaking to the mediapersons at the State headquarter of the Congress on Friday, Vice-President Surya Kant Dhasmana said the Congress has no objection for grand celebration on the occasion of State foundation day but the prevailing situation in the State is such that the questions are being raised on the plan of the grand situation.
“The law and order situation in the State is at its worst. In State capital, an elderly woman was murdered in broad day light on Thursday. The graph of crime in all parts of the state has increased. Till recently some of the mountainous districts of the state use to be crime free but now criminal activities in these districts too have increased,’’ he said.
The Congress leader also took the State BJP Government to task for dismal condition of health services.
He said the health infrastructure in the State has collapsed and people are facing hardships.
