Congress on Wednesday raised objection about the way National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe was set up by the Union government into the killing of BJP legislator Bhima Mandavi.
It has objected that the state government was not taken into confidence while handing over the probe to the NIA.
State general secretary and chairman communication wing of the PCC Shailesh Nitin Trivedi in a statement termed the announcement of the NIA probe into the matter a political decision. When the state government had already ordered a judicial probe headed by a retired Chief Justice, the declaration of NIA probe was an encroachment into the powers of the state government and attack on its autonomy.
It was questionable that whether BJP doesn’t have faith on judicial probe set up by the state government. State BJP had earlier demanded a CBI probe into the matter and the Congress government in the state going a step further had set up a judicial probe, headed by a retired Chief Justice, he said.
BJP government at the Centre doesn’t even wait for the lifting of the model code of conduct and sought recommendation from Chhattisgarh government. This showed its intention, which is purely unjustified, he added.
