Congress reacts strongly on Khattar’s statement on Sonia

Tuesday, 15 October 2019 | PNS | Dehradun

Taking strong exception to the recent unsavoury statement give against Congress president Sonia Gandhi by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh has said the statement reflects the mindset of the BJP leaders towards women.

Asking the Haryana CM to apologise for his utterances, Singh said the Congress party strongly objects to such statements. He said by retorting to such highly objectionable and insensitive utterances, the BJP leaders are trying to divert attention of people from the issues of public interests like unemployment, economic recession, prise rise, corruption, and atrocities on Dalits, women and farmers.

He added these leaders have lost their mental balance which is the reason behind such baseless and derogatory language. He added the Congress respects its senior leaders, but the BJP has no place for seniority in its ranks.

The PCC president said the BJP leadership should take stern action against him. He added on one hand the BJP is giving slogan of ‘Beti Bachao and Beti Padhao’ for women empowerment and on the other hand they make such statements against women. The PCC president said the Haryana CM has not only insulted the Congress chief but also Indian women.

The Congress workers led by the Mahanagar president Lal Chand Sharma assembled at the Astely hall and amid shouting of slogans and burned the effigy of Khattar.
