State Congress on Friday welcomed Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel’s decision to remove sedition charges against a man who allegedly spread fake news that the power cut being witnessed in the state was a deliberate ploy to benefit inverter sellers.
In a statement Congress’s state general secretary and chairman of communication wing Shailesh Nitin Trivedi said with the opposition of the BJP on the issue the real face of the party has come to fore and it proves that it too was involved in fake propaganda to malign the image of the state government and the power company of the state.
Regarding removal of sedition charges, the Congress leader said Congress was always against the section 124-A and had always opposed violation of democratic rights of a person. Anyone can raise voice against the government and they have freedom of expression, he said.
The decision of the Chief Minister to withdraw the charges of sedition proves his kind heartedness while on the other hand it also proves that the entire episode was a well hatched conspiracy of the BJP. In a well planned way the video was prepared which was baseless and had only intention of defaming the state government as well as the power company, he added.
