In a bid to provide safe and secure environment to the students, especially the ‘freshers’ in North Campus of Delhi University, Delhi Police has implemented pickets, women PCRs, woman bike patrolling teams and anti-pick pocket staffs on the varsity campus. Police said interaction sessions with new students are also going on in the North campus colleges where they are told about Himmat Plus app and its usage.
According to Nupur Prasad, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), North district, a comprehensive security scheme is put in place at DU North Campus to assist the new students who are coming to take admissions and prevent any kind of crime incidences.
Explaining the plan to prevent any kind of untoward incident in the campus, the DCP said that strong pickets are planned in outlying areas in a manner that the peripheries of the campus are manned.
“Recently, all college and university guards were properly briefed by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) and Station House Officer (SHO) of Maurice Nagar police station under Prahari Scheme regarding how to provide assistance in case of crisis or any happening,” said the DCP.
“Now, two women PCRs are deputed at Patel Chest and Vishwavidyalaya Metro Station to cater to the needs of students and four women bike patrolling teams are patrolling the campus 24*7 to instill the confidence amongst especially among girl students to feel safe in the campus,” said the DCP.
“Police teams are also doing surprise bus checking in various buses near the campus. Further all college gates are manned by composite men and women staff for the safety of the students,” said the DCP.
“Police have also installed at Viswavidyalaya Metro Station, Miranda College and Daulat Ram College to brief them about the benefits and usage of himmat plus app and help them in download the app,” said the DCP.
