Posted as Commandant in one of the most dangerous areas in Chhasttigarh’s Bijapur, Sudhir Kumar in 2016 thought of     deploying motor cycle ambulance that could serve the people of Chhattisgarh and the paramilitary posted in Maoist-hit areas of the state.

Sudhir's work in the Maoist-hit area has earned him a national level award by FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry).

It is for the first time that a national-level civic action programme by CRPF has been        recognised. Sudhir Kumar received Special Jury award on behalf of CRPF for initiating     various activities in the field of medical care, education, sports and other fields at Bijapur in Chhattishgarh.

These civic action programmes were conducted by the Central Reserve Police Force and were undertaken based on the local requirements and conditions.

Sudhir was leading the team which carried out these programmes.

"In 2016, I realised that people of Chhattisgarh needed better educational facilities and also the youngsters needed to be engaged in sports. Medical facilities were not available due to the Maoist presence in the area," Kumar told IANS news agency.

"I then started a motorcycle ambulance which helped to ferry patients in the dangerous terrain without much difficulty. Later we decided to start volleyball tournaments for both men and women. I also coached the youth in these areas," Kumar added.

The FICCI award was conferred by Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office.
