Hundreds of students from various colleges participated in IIM Ranchi's annual culture and sports extravaganza, Rush 4.0, which commenced on Saturday.
The two day fest, packed with a number of sports, cultural and extra-curricular events, witnessed high excitement level of the students. Apart from IIM-R, the other participating colleges included XLRI, IIM Bodh Gaya, RIMS, BIT Mesra, BIT Sindri, ISM Ranchi, ICFAI and St. Xavier’s College.
The sports competition on day one included cricket, badminton, volleyball, table tennis, chess, carrom and badminton. Among the cultural programmes, major competitions were battle of bands, solo and duet singing, group and solo dance, fashion show and others.
Sunny kumar of BIT Sindri bagged the first prize in solo singing while Akash Roy from IIM-R was second. Battle of Bands was won by Band Booty More of IIM Ranchi followed by Underscore from ICFAI.
Fashion show witnessed the participation of three teams, two from IIM Ranchi and one from ISM Ranchi while Group Dance saw participation from Team Zenith of BIT Mesra against Froggy Feet of IIM Ranchi.
Samarpan, the social responsibility club of IIM Ranchi organised Sahayak Vikas- an initiative for the support staff of the Institute wherein the club provided material for making earrings, cards and fridge magnets and trained them for the same. The products made were then put for sale at the fest.
The cultural evening was culminated by DJ night hosted by DJ Faizan where students got a chance to groove on the latest tunes.
Famous singer Arjun Kanoongo will be the major attraction of the concluding day of the programme.
Meanwhile, a Dance-a-Thon was organized at XISS on Saturday where over 40 students enrolled. The event consisted of a warm up session followed by Zumba session to set the fitness spark racing and a dance routine on popular tracks. The event concluded with a dance routine competition which was won by Manaswi Dua from HRM 2 and Rohan Singh Rautela from Finance 1.
On the other hand, The Jharkhand Science and Environment Fest was organised at BIT Mesra on Saturday. A science exhibition was organized during the programme in which more than 60 teams from schools like Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Delhi Public School and DAV from Ranchi, Bokaro and Khunti presented their models on various topics like the greenhouse automation, light fidelity, organic farming and eco-friendly refrigerator. Other competitions included debate, quiz, AdSense and more.
