The Delhi Commission for women (DCW) has issued a notice to Delhi Police seeking detailed report on the murder of a 19-year-old girl in Bhogal area on Friday.
The victim was brutally stabbed to death in public view by man who was stalking her for a long time.
“DCW has sent a notice to Delhi Police regarding detailed Status Report in the matter and also asked them about any previous complaint which was made by the victim or her family in the past. The girl died while she was being taken to the hospital in an auto-rickshaw. The man was caught by the bystanders and handed over to the police,” read the notice issued by the woman commission.
It further said that this is a shocking incident where a young life was lost due to complete lack of fear of law. It is critical that all forms of harassment especially stalking are reported and acted upon urgently.
DCW has asked the
concerned police official to provide the details by August 1, considering the gravity of the matter.
On Friday Preeti Mathur was stabbed six times in the middle of a crowded market in Bhogal area of Jungpura by a man identified as Mohammad Munsair.
The accused was caught by the passerby and thrashed. He was later handed over to the police.
The local residents claimed that the accused even tried to stab people when they attempted to stop him.
According to a report, the incident happened around 7.30 pm when the accused met the woman near Bhogal bus stand. Following a heated argument, Mohammad stabbed the woman multiple times, a senior police officer said.
