Delhi Metro evacuated after smoke reported on Akshardham

nPassengers on the a Noida-bound train were deboarded on Wednesday at the Akshardham Metro Station after a minor smoke incident was reported from the train’s last coach.

According to a senior official of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), the “minor” smoke was reported in the train last coach at the Pragati Maidan metro station on Blueline at around 2:35 PM on Wednesday afternoon.

“No physical cause was observed by the maintenance staff but as a precaution, passengers were de-boarded at Akshardham Metro station which comes after Pragati Maidan metro station. The train was thereafter withdrawn from the service and sent for investigation at Yamuna Bank depot,” said the DMRC senior official.

The Delhi Metro’s Blue Line connects Dwarka / Dwarka Sector-21 to Vaishali / Noida Electronic City.
