Delhi shows the way in dealing with dengue menace

Sunday, 13 October 2019 | PNS | Dehradun

With menace of dengue  showing no signs of abating as 32 new cases of the disease were reported by the district health department of Dehradun on Saturday, the anti dengue activities of health department and administration here have come under a cloud.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is reeling under the impact of the vector borne disease as an unprecedented 4262 patients of the disease so far have been reported in this season. The health department officials are consistently claiming that dengue follows a pattern where every three year, the virus affects the population on a large scale.

This theory however fails when one compares the dengue scenario in national capital Delhi where the disease has not hit the population like it used to be in the past with Dehradun. Experts are praising the efforts of the Delhi government for taking effective measures to curb the menace of the disease.

The district vector borne diseases officer, Subhash Joshi said that 213 samples of suspected patients of the disease were tested for the confirmatory ELISA test on Saturday and out of them 32 were found positive for the disease.
