Dengue is continuing to hit the residents of Doon valley. On Friday, 15 new cases of the dreaded vector-borne disease were reported by the district health authorities.
With these cases, the number of dengue affected patients in Dehradun has jumped to 766. Out of these patients 738 patients are residents of Dehradun while 28 belong to other districts.
The special dengue wards in GDMC hospital, Gandhi Centenary Eye hospital and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya hospitals have become full of patients. On the day, the vice president of the state unit of Congress party, Surya Kant Dhasmana visited the GDMC hospital and took stock of the situation.
The District Vector Borne Diseases Officer, Subhash Joshi said that teams of health department and Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) are visiting the affected areas and activities like fogging and spread of insecticides are being undertaken apart from spreading awareness on preventive measures to be adopted for the disease. He said that people should ensure that the breeding places of mosquitoes inside their homes and vicinity are destroyed.
