Depressed over not getting job, a 30-year-old engineer allegedly committed suicide by jumping over Mayur Vihar flyover in East Delhi. The incident occurred on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Saurabh, a native of Bhojpur in Bihar and was presently residing at Delhi's New Ashok Nagar for past two and half month. According to Jasmeet Singh, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), East district, on Friday at around 10 AM a call was received regarding the incident following which a team rushed to the spot.
“Saurabh was taken to nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. During initial investigation it was revealed that Saurabh had shifted to Delhi two and a half months ago. He had done B-Tech from a University in Bihar and was looking for job in Delhi-NCR,” said the DCP.
“Police have recovered a diary which Saurabh used to write daily from his home in New Ashok Nagar. In diary he had shown signs of depression due to not getting job. Initial probe suggests that he had taken this step due to depression,” said the police official privy to investigation.
“Body of the deceased was handed over to family after autopsy. Saurabh father had told police that he was upset after not getting any job. Further investigation is going on,” said the DCP.
