On the initiatives of State Disability Commissioner Satish Chandra, the National Council for Technical Education (NCTE) has okayed the recruitment of persons of disabilities as teachers in the State, who have completed B.Ed (Special Education) course. Director, Secondary Education, allowed the recruitment of disabled teachers with Bed (Special Education) degree in High Schools of the State on the directions of the NCTE.
The department had asked for instructions from NCTE on the issue, on which the NCTE had not considered B Ed and D Ed (Special Education) equal to B Ed and had asked the department to take action on recruited teachers with the same degrees. The State Disability Commissioner alongwith several organisations had lodged strong protest against the step.
After logical arguments on the issue the department had once again asked for instructions from the NCTE, which annulled its previous instruction and allowed teachers with disability with B Ed, D Ed course as eligible candidates for the recruitment.
Rehabilitation specialist Rahul Mehta, Pramod Kumar from Deep Shikha, Mukesh kanchan from Jharkhand Vikalang Jan Forum, Vijay Kumar Mahto alongwith others expressed happiness on the issue and greeted the Disability Commissioner.
