DM holds multi-purpose camp, tours villages, talks to people

Covering a distance of about five kilometres on foot, the Nainital district magistrate Savin Bansal toured various rural areas and presided over a multi-purpose camp in Katkatania on Wednesday.

Addressing the locals gathered on the occasion, said that priority will be accorded to ensuring benefit of governmental schemes to people living in remote areas. He said that the government is going to the doorsteps of the citizens, learning about their problems and doing the needful to resolve these issues effectively.

Bansal directed the district tourism officer to submit a proposal for Karkotak Nag temple beautification and development of trek route.

 He said that the Karkotak temple will be developed as a tourist spot for which a 700 metre route will be developed from the temple path and Pandegaon to Aukhad-Bhankar. He also exhorted the local residents to build home-stays in order to strengthen their economic condition.

Further, the district magistrate also gave Rs 25,000 from untied fund for furniture in the government primary school at Bhankar. He also presented Rs 7,000 cash reward each to local girls Monika Nayal and Chitra Nayal for playing kabaddi at the national level.

Responding to their demand, he also assured that a kabaddi coach will be appointed. Bansal said that the Gram Pradhan should use fund received from state finance on basic and important works like ensuring supply of potable water, education and sanitation while other tasks should be get done through MNREGA.

While touring Pandegaon, the district magistrate expressed dissatisfaction and concern at illegal mining. He directed the sub divisional magistrate to immediately cancel the mining lot, directing that an FIR should be lodged and strict action should be taken in case anyone is found indulging in illegal mining.

Block Pramukh Harish Bisht thanked the district magistrate for holding Janata Darbar and multi-purpose camp in the area. He said that villagers should become aware and take advantage of such camps. The villagers should also attend their village Panchayat meetings and raise their issues.

According to the officials, a total of 66 public grievances were registered in the multi-purpose camp. Most of the complaints were resolved on the spot by Bansal who forwarded the remaining issues to the departments concerned for the needful to resolve the same.

The health department also conducted free health check ups on the occasion. A total of 65 persons availed of this. Similarly, 15 Aadhaar cards were updated and three new Aadhaar cards were made.

 The social welfare department officials got four beneficiaries to fill pension forms while the rural development and Panchayati Raj department issued BPL codes along with register copy to 12 families.
