Drunk woman loses car’s control, suffers injuries as BMW flips on Akbar Road

A woman, who was driving a BMW car, rashly and recklessly, suffered injuries after she lost control over the car, flipped over several times and then overturned, hitting a divider on Akbar Road in central Delhi.

According to a senior police official, the accident took place at VVIP area at Akbar road on Saturday night  after which the car flipped several times before halting by the divider.

“The incident took place at 3 am. The woman in inebriated state who was driving the car has been injured. Neither occupant of the car nor any injured persons were found at the spot,” said the senior police official.

“The black car with a Delhi registration was found on a patch of lawn on Akbar Road in the VIP zone of the Capital. The police, however, were alerted only in the morning. When they reached the spot, they found the overturned car but no occupants,” said the senior police official. 

“Police team visited various hospitals in New Delhi area to look for the occupants but could not trace anyone.

Later, the car owner was traced by the registration number of the vehicle and informed about the incident,” said the police official.

“The car belonged to an owner of a prestigious IAS coaching academy in the city. He informed police that the car was in possession of his daughter.

Investigations confirmed that the car was driven by the woman on high speed and she was accompanied by her friend on next seat when she lost balance and rammed into median,” he said.

“After hitting the road divider, the car flipped several times before coming to halt. Their friends following them in another car  rescued them and took them to hospital,” the police official added.

“The car has been impounded and the woman driver has been fined under Motor Vehicle act for driving under influence of alcohol,” said the police official.
