Dhanbad Police arrested DSP Suresh Paswan for molesting a minor girl on Saturday. The DSP, aged 51, was posted at DIG office in Dumka, informed Kishore Kaushal, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dhanbad
“The DSP has been arrested and sent to judicial custody. He has been booked under section 354(b) of Indian Penal Code and also under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act,” Kaushal said.
Paswan was arrested from Dumka on the charges of molesting a 12 year old girl. A case was filed at Saraidhela police station earlier. “DSP (Paswan) was arrested after the charges in the probe were verified,” said SSP.
According to the police, an FIR was lodged at Saraidhela police station by the minor girl, a student of class 6 and her family few days earlier. In her complaint the minor has accused Paswan of doing obscene acts on the road while she would go to to school, since past several months, police said.
“Despite being posted at Dumka, Paswan still kept his residence at Saraidhela and usually stayed here,” a police person said.
He added, “After getting the complaint against Paswan, we have immediately informed to our Senior Superintendent of Police. Taking a serious note, SSP directed us to take action against the DSP.” After completing some formalities DSP will be presented before the court on Monday, he said.
