DTC driver killed by unidentified assailants

A 59-year-old Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) driver was murdered by unidentified assailants at Delhi-Sonipat border. Missing since Wednesday, his body was found near Shani Mandir in Sonipat border, police said.

According to police, the deceased was identified as Preetam Chauhan, a resident of Delhi's Swaroop Nagar.

On Thursday, he was found with a slit in his neck. His family revealed that he was set to retire 6 months prior to his death.

"A case has been registered at Keshav Puram police station," police said, adding that, they are looking into CCTV footages to identity the accused involved.

The incident occurred on Wednesday when he was returning home from work in his private vehicle at around 11pm. However, as he didn't reach home, his family filed a missing report. According to the GPS in his vehicle, police found the vehicle was driven to Sonipat via Alipur before returning and finally stopping at Bakhtawar Pur area.

The postmortem of the deceased has been conducted, police said, and the body was handed over to police.
