DU admissions to begin on May 27

Saturday, 25 May 2019 | GAYATHRI MANI | NEW DELHI

The much awaited Delhi University admissions that was deferred due to the Lok Sabha Elections 2019, is likely to begin from Monday onwards. The online registrations for the all the Undergraduate (UG) courses, Post Graduate (PG), M.phill and PhD will begin from May 27.

However, the prospective students especially the fresh school pass out candidates have to hurry up in filling the admission forms as the process will continue for two week. The online registrations will tentatively start from May 27 and will continue till June 9. Moreover, the students are also keenly waiting for the ‘open day session’ and ‘counseling days’ in the campus and its faculties and affiliated colleges.

As per University sources, keeping the General Elections in the view, the Varsity first decided to start the admission process to its under Graduate courses in April elections. However, after that it has been decided that the admission process will be started on May 24 after the declaration of poll results.

Unlike the previous years, the 12th class results have been declared and the DU standing committee and admission committee has also finalized and set to release the draft policy for the UG admissions 2019-20 by next week. But the admission process is yet to be announced especially for the UG courses.

“The open day sessions are meant to clear the doubts of the students and helping them to fill the online registrations forms correctly without any mistakes. Moreover, in this session the students are also counseled about the courses, calculation of marks, combinations of subject and marks to opt for any discipline and honors course. But beginning the admission process without conducting the counseling sessions is troublesome for the students and their future,” said a former member of Academic Council (AC) of DU.

The ‘Open day and counseling sessions’ for the candidates applying for UG and PG courses were conducted before a month or at least 10 days before the announcement of admission registration process.

Adopting and adapting to the digital era, DU has made many changes in the admission process.  Emails, Pop-Up and messages will send to every student to confirm that they have successfully completed with the registration: Pop up will come as the student completes his/her registration. Also, personal SMS and confirmation mail will be sending to the email Id and on mobile of applicants.

There are about 67 colleges that mostly offer UG courses are affiliated to the DU and the varsity have a student population of about 2 lakhs studying in its faculties and schools including colleges.
