Rezi Dungdung, the former IPS officer, who superannuated from service on October 15, today praised Chief Minister Raghubar Das for the development work carried out by BJP lead NDA Government in State. Rezi who had already made his intention clear to join active politics said, “I am seeing the change the State has witnessed in last five years. Road sector is one sector which has seen a lot of development.”
He further said, “Earlier, it used to take five to six hours to reach Simdega from Ranchi, but now due to better roads the journey is also smooth and it takes three hours to reach Simdega from Ranchi.” Dungdung, praising Chief Minister Raghubar Das’ government assumes importance and it is seen as indication to join Saffron party.
Dungdung, however, said that all the political parties are good and have contributed for State and country’s growth. Dungdung in his 32 years’ police service had served at different capacities in police administration said that he will disclose his idea of joining political party after seeking feedback from his people.
Dungdung who comes from Simdega and planning to contest from same assembly segment said, “For next 10 days I will camp at Simdega seeking people’s feedback and suggestions about different political parties.
After getting feedback from people I will make a final decision on which party I have to join.”However, leaders from both Congress and BJP have welcome Dungdung. State Congress president Rameshwar Oraon, who too is retired IPS officer, has invited Dungdung to join Congress camp. Oraon said, “If the former ADG wants to join Congress than he is welcomed. The party needs a person like him.” The BJP too has welcomed Dungdung. State BJP spokesperson, JB Tubid said, “We welcome Dungdung’s decision to join active politics.”
The 1987 batch IPS officer has served as various capacities which include ASP of Patna, Dhanbad, SP Jamshedpur, Saharsa, and Commandant BMP among others. After the creation of separate State (Jharkhand) he had served as SP Gumla, Koderma, ADG, JAP and CID and last ADG (Wireless).
The former IPS officer, at the same time listed out the social work he has carried out as IPS. He said that due to his initiative the state Government arranged crèche for women cops at JAP and other police offices. A nursery where babies and young children are cared for during the working day.
Prior to Dungdung many senior IPS officers in State too after retirement have joined active politics. IPS officer Sheetal Oraon and Lakshman Prasad Singh after retirement had joined politics in 2014. Former DGP, VD Ram is presently MP from Palamu, while Congress State president Rameshwar Oraon too was ADG rank police officer.
Congress former state president and presently Aam Admi Party (AAP) leader Ajoy Kumar too was an IPS officer and had served as SP of Jamshedpur.
