East Zone V-Cs’ meet begins at CUJ

Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ) is hosting two day East Zone Vice Chancellor’s meet that started here on Thursday in which around 50 Vice Chancellors (VC) of various Universities from east zone are participating to discuss on present education policy and what changes should be made in present education system. Jharkhand Governor, Draupadi Murmu inaugurated the meet as Chief Guest.

The theme of the programme is ‘Towards Global Best Teaching-Learning Process in Indian Higher Education’. The meet was organising on behalf of Association of Indian Universities.

Addressing the gathering of VCs and the students, Murmu said that there is need to increase women participation in higher education because women are backbones of the society if they will be educated then the entire society will also be educated.

“Organising such kinds of programmes is very necessary to bring fundamental changes in education system because time to time it needs changes. It is necessary for the educational centers to develop ability among students to think and take better decisions so that as responsible person of the Country they could carry the nation to develop culturally, socially and economically,” said Murmu.

The Governor said that the teaching learning process is the pivot of any educational institution on which rests the reputation along with success of the institution. “Rapid changes of modern world are giving rise to new type of students, new technologies, newer aspiration and new expectations. Fostering quality teaching presents higher education institution with a range of challenges at a time when the higher education sector is coming under pressure from many different directions and the requirements of employer both at present and for the future. Developing institutions as effective learning communities where excellent pedagogical practices are developed and shared also requires leadership, collaboration and ways to address tensions between innovators and those reluctant to change,” she added.

Chairman Educational Technology Management Association, Marmar Mukhopadhyay was Guest of Honour of the programme. CUJ VC, Nand Kumar Yadav ‘Indu’ was also present on the occasion as host.

Association of Indian Universities is one of the premier institutions of the Country working for the cause of higher education. Since its inception in 1925, the AIU has been playing a vital role in shaping Indian Higher Education by being an integral part of all major decision making committees and commissions. Since its inception, it is acting as valued source of research based policy advice institutions to the Government of India in the field of higher education.
