EC cancels mega PTM on BJP’s complaint

Saturday, 20 April 2019 | Staff Reporter | NEW DELHI

On the complaint of Delhi Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi has cancelled the mega ‘Parent Teachers Meeting’ (PTM) that was scheduled to be organised in Delhi Government’s schools, said party Delhi unit president Manoj Tiwari.

Welcoming the decision of the Chief Electoral Officer, Tiwari said the decision to hold PTM was in violation of model code of conduct.

The Kejriwal Government was making an attempt to obstruct free and fare election, he said, adding that the Government and members of his party were misusing the public fund for electoral gains.

Accusing the Government, Tiwari said that it was claimed that the mega PTM is being organised for the benefit of the students but the entire team of AAP workers was prepared to mislead the parents. “Kejriwal Government has already tried to mislead the people by making forged calls and again he was holding the meeting of the parents to appeal to the children and parents not to vote for BJP,” he said.

Tiwari also said that planning to hold such meeting during the election process was nothing but to get political benefits. Not only this, the AAP was planning to spend heavy amount out of the public exchequer for making arrangements for furniture, buildings etc, he said, adding that this was misuse of the public money paid by the taxpayers.
