After scrutiny and withdrawal of nominations, only eight candidates are found to be in the poll-fray for the Brahmapur Assembly Lok Sabha seat.
These candidates are: Chandrasekhar Naidu (Congress), Chandrasekhar Sahu (BJD), Tirupati Rao Karanam (BSP), Bhrugu Baxipatra (BJP), Srihari Pattnaik (Odisha Pragati Party), Somanath Behera (SUCI), Chakradhar Sahu (Independent) and K Shyambabu Subudhi (Independent). Independent candidate B Bishnu Prasad Subudhi has withdrawn his candidature.
But candidatures of all eight nominees for the Aska Loka Sabha constituency are found valid after scrutiny. They are Pramila Bisoyi (BJD), Anita Subhadarshani (BJP), Purnna Chandra Nayak (BSP), Ramakrushna Panda (CPI), Rajiv Chandra Khadanga (All India Forward Bloc), Sankar Sahu of CPI (ML) Red Star, K Shyambabu Subudhi (Independent) and Chakradhar Sahu (Independent).
Two candidates from Polasara Assembly constituency, one each from Chikiti, Mohana and Paralakhemudi ACs have withdrawn their candidatures, according to information. After withdrawal, eight candidates for Mohana AC, seven for Paralakhemundi and eight candidates for Chhatrapur AC are in fray.
The District Election authorities took a meeting with all the eight candidates of the Chhatrapur seat on execution of election Model Code of Conduct.
