Narmada Valley Development Minister Surendra Singh Baghel has expressed deep sorrow over the electrocution of two persons following rise in the water-level of Narmada river in Rajghat area of Badwani district. Assistance of Rs 2 lakhs each from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund and Rs 4 lakh each from the Electricity Department has been sanctioned immediately to the families of the deceased. Baghel has ordered an inquiry into the incident and said that action will be taken immediately against the guilty officers.
Baghel has urged the submergence- affected families to reach the rehabilitation sites near their village, so that any untoward incident can be avoided. He said that the state government is with the affected families and is always ready for their rescue and cooperation. Baghel expressed condolences to the family of the deceased persons during the rescue work.
Narmada Valley Development Minister Baghel has again urged the Government of Gujarat to open the gates of Rajghat dam to prevent such incidents due to increase in the water level. Baghel said that in the past also, the Government of Gujarat had been requested in this regard.
This time due to the rise in Narmada water level following excessive rain in the state, a request has been made to open the dam gates in Gujarat.
