Independence Day was celebrated with full fervor at the St Xavier’s Sr Sec Coed School. The day began with a prayer which was followed by a prayer song. The Chief guest of the occasion Fr Shellmon Anthony was accorded a warm welcome by the NCC cadets. He is the Director of Divine Retreat Centre, Bhopal.
Principal Fr Varghese hoisted the tricolor which was followed by the national anthem. On the day, the need to preserve various aspects of the national pledge like brotherhood, love and respect for heritage, respect for elders and parents was displayed beautifully in a one act play. The four houses reflected healthy competitive spirit in a patriotic song competition and Yellow house was declared the winner.
A highly motivating speech was delivered by Achinkya of standard VIII. A beautiful synchronized traditional dance added patriotic fervor and colour to the festivities on the occasion. Chief guest Fr Shellmon wished the nation on 73rd Independence Day and appealed to the young citizens to uphold values and strive for a better India.
Xavierites were fortunate to be blessed with presence of Archbishop of Bhopal Leo Cornelio on special occasion. This year Raksha Bandhan coincided with Independence Day, we marked the day by tying Rakhis on the wrist of Bishop and other priests present on the occasion.
Principal Fr Varghese in his message said discipline and upright character is the foundation of one’s personality and off-course that shapes the future of a nation. Head boy Sumit and Head girl Chaarvi jointly proposed the vote of thanks.
