Amidst intelligence inputs of possible terror strikes by Pakistan-based ultra group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in Indian cities, including Lucknow, DGP OP Singh convened a meet of top police officers and directed them to ensure peaceful celebration of festivals starting with Navratri on coming Sunday.
In the meeting attended by all ADGs, the DGP asked the officers to check festival register and deploy adequate force besides completing anti-sabotage checks at all Durga puja pandals.
The police officers were also directed to ensure that no illegal cracker-making factory was running in the wake of coming Diwali and those with licences were following the preventive measure guidelines.
The DGP also directed the officers to ensure that no new route for immersion of idol was allowed and heavy force was deployed wherever the processions were to pass through communally sensitive areas.
Singh warned that the government would not tolerate any laxity on law and order and take stern action if any untoward incident was reported from anywhere, especially due to negligence of cops.
