Gourav Sethi, son of former Brahmapur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) Corporator Krushna Chandra Sethi, was critically injured in a lethal attack by a group at Sita Dhemiri Street under the Big Bazaar police station here on Wednesday.
Later, he was rescued and admitted to the MKCG Medical College Hospital here. It is alleged that the assailants attempted to kill Gourav by bludgeon his head with stones.
In a complaint lodged with police it is alleged that Gourav was called for compromising a dispute related to having drinks at a liquor shop. But he was brutally attacked and has suffered severe injuries on his head.
Brahmapur Town SDPO Bishnu Prasad Sethi said some minors are involved in the incident.
Notably, Krushna has a licenced liquor shop in Sana Bazaar area. Some youths consumed liquor in the shop but did not pay for it and resorted to hooliganism. Getting information, Gourav rushed to the spot and inquired about the incident.
Later, a youth called him to Sita Dhemiri Street to amicably settle the dispute. But when he went there along with a friend, nearly eight to 10 persons brutally attacked him with stones and sharp weapons and fled from the spot.
Later, Gourav was rescued and rushed to hospital.
