Madhya Pradesh Woman and Child Development Minister here on Wednesday advocated for public execution of the rapists to deter criminals against such heinous crimes.
The WCD Minister Imarti Devi on Wednesday met the family of the victim in Bhopal and consoled them.
The inconsolable parents demanded death sentence for the accused Vishnu Prasad who had raped and murdered the girl on the night of last Saturday and was later arrested by police from Khandwa.
Later, the minister told the media that police system should also be improved for safeguarding the girl. He said there should be a police post close to the slums and police verification of the slum dwellers should be done regularly. “Unless such men would be present in our villages, cities and localities, our daughters can’t be safe,” claimed the anguished minister. Saying that capital punishment is not sufficient for such criminals, the WCD minister demanded that such perpetrators should be hanged publically in their localities. Meanwhile, the accused Vishnu Prasad was produced before the District and Session’s court on Wednesday in Bhopal where the man broke down pleading the court to hang him for his misdeed. The police have presented 108-page charge sheet before the court and 40 witnesses have been included in the probe of murder and rape of the nine-year-old girl. The police had produced the accused in the court minutes 5pm and Prasad seeing the judge started crying loudly and was scolded by the judge.
During the police probe also the accused had accepted that he had committed a blunder. The accused was drunk when he had raped the girl and she had suffocated to death during the incident.
