Exhibition ‘Ayaam’ shows life of playwright BV Karanth

Ayaam showed the life of legendry playwright BV Karanth. Karanth known as the most noted and pioneer personality of world of theatre is remembered in most creative way. The theatre buffs of the city are taking a walkthrough of the life of the eminent playwright in an exhibition ‘Ayaam’.

The exhibition is being put up at Rangdarshini gallery of Bharat Bhavan which displays the props, stage craft, music instruments, masks and photographs of BV Karanth.

“It is one of the most unusual exhibitions of all times. We organize it every year in the memory of Baba Karanth and to remember his priceless contribution in the world of theatre,” says Anoop Joshi who has put up the exhibition.

The entire exhibition is like walking down the memory lane. Eminent theatre personalities like Rajeev Verma, Mahesh Anand and more had a close look at those colourful memories and enjoyed each moment of it.

It is to be noted that the props and all the displays at the exhibition date back to year 1982. Besides, the instruments used in Karanth’s plays are considered really rare.

As in some of the plays he used a typical ‘nagada’ which is rarely used today in

theatres.

Other than focusing on his theatre personality, the Rangamandal wing of Bharat Bhavan also focused on his professional life and his immense involvement in dramas, stage settings and preparations related to theatrical presentations.

As many as 40 still photographs of Karanth’s theatre works, 30 musical instruments that he used in his productions at Rangmandal and the theatre costumes he designed for the actors were on display. The exhibition on BV Karanth is a mesmerizing treat for the theatre-goers and the art lovers of the city.
