Sirpur, the renowned historical place, will host the one-day ‘Sirpur Mahotsav’ on February 19 from 4.00 pm.
Chief Guest of inaugural ceremony will be Commercial Tax (Excise), Commerce and Industries minister Kawasi Lakhma. Mahasamund Lok Sabha Member of Parliament Chandulal Sahu will preside over the function.
Special guests will be local MLAs and three-tier Panchayat office bearers. Cultural programmes will be organized mainly ‘Karma dance’, folk music, Kathak dance presentation, ‘Gaura-Gauri Suwa’ dance and other traditional forms of art.
Sirpur is a village in Mahasamund district which is 78 km away from Raipur and 35 km from Mahasamund city and is located on the banks of the river Mahanadi.
The village hosts the Sirpur Group of Monuments consisting of Buddhist, Hindu and Jain temples and monasteries, dated from the 5th to 12th century.
