Father of abandoned infant girl found dead on May 23 tracked

It the shocking case of an infant girl found dead in the garbage under Gandhigram Bridge on May 23, police have identified the father of the infant. According to the police the infant had several birth anomalies and at the time doctors handed her over to the father, it was evident that the infant would not survive long even with artificial life support. However, why the father disposed her of in such a manner is still a matter of investigation. In the second case of an infant girl found dead in Chandrabani area, police are still trying to locate the parents of the girl.

Director General, Law and Order, Ashok Kumar said, “In case of the baby girl who was found near Garndhigram, the cause of death is ante-mortem injuries, on the basis of which a case will be registered in the Police Station concerned.”

Superintendent of Police (city) Shweta Choubey said, “The Gandhigram case is under investigation. We are working on the facts that have come in to light. The baby was born with birth complications. The doctor said her lungs were not properly developed and there were some respiratory problems. We have tracked down the father. We are still taking statements.”

When asked about the second case in which body an infant girl was found in Patelnagar she said, “The cause of death according to post-mortem report is natural. However, the case is still under investigation. We are trying to track down parents as of now.”
