CM Raghubar Das on Sunday said that the people of the State must pledge to make a ‘New Jharkhand’. Addressing the media at Agrico Durga Puja Pandal, Das said that it is time for the people to join hands and work along with the Government to pave way for a developed State and make a ‘New Jharkhand’.The CM visited several puja pandals along with party workers and prayed for the welfare of State. He went to Agrico, Kadma, Bhalubhasa, Laxminagar and Jojobera. Das also interacted with devotees and extended his warm wishes. People jostled to take selfie with the CM at different pandals, while the CM picks a plastic bottle outside the pandal without saying a word to anyone. The CM later said,” we all have to discharge our duties then only we can make a plastic free Jharkhand. We can surely achieve the goal of cleanliness in the State.”
Amid festive mood, dressed in their best, people of the city today thronged at puja pandals to make offering to the deities. People in large numbers visited the colourfully decorated pandals in the evening and were overjoyed as cultural programmes began at all prominent pandals.The entire city is bubbling with joy and enthusiasm; be it a child or an adult everyone has zeroed on his/her plans to make celebrations all the more special. “We are hosting cultural shows to add a tinge of entertainment for the visitors. We are happy to note the response from the devotees,” said a functionary of Circuit House puja committee. Meanwhile, a big fair is being organised at Sabuj Kalyan Sangh, Telco. The area has turned into playground for visitors. Meanwhile, artistically carved idols of Goddess Durga is also attracting thedevotees a lot.Another Puja is here – another reaffirmation of our essential religiousness, another chance at renewing our social ties, another opportunity for restoring our links with divinity. People are seen standing in long queues in front of the pandals for their turn for darshan of the Goddess. Huge rush of devotees was seen at the pandals of Jay Ram Sporting Club in Adityapur and Thakur Pyara Singh and Dharundhar Singh in Kashidih. On the other hand the Ram Mandir Ravan Dahan Samity in Sonari is gearing up for the age old rituals of Ravaan Dahan. This year the Ravan will be 50 ft high and viewers will enjoy the legend of good winning over evil once again.
The tradition of the dahan, held on the Ram Mandir grounds, first began in 1958.
The total budget for this year is Rs 1.25 lakh. The firecrackers for the one-hour show have been procured at a cost of Rs 40,000. Like every year, the Samity expects a crowd of about 50, 000. Apart from carrying the tradition forward and entertaining the people, the Samity also takes care of the safety of people. The firecrackers are always fixed on a certain height in order to avoid accidents.
