Fight forces destroying social fabric: Pritam

Saturday, 17 August 2019 | PNS | Dehradun

The President of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), Pritam Singh unfurled the national flag at the state Congress party headquarters on Independence Day. Speaking on the occasion, he said that due to the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters we are able to breathe in an independent air.

Remembering Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion, Singh said that on August 8, 1942 Gandhi gave the mantra of ‘Do or Die’.  He added that on the call given by Gandhi, the people of the country most of whom were youths came out of their houses to take part in freedom struggle.

Singh added that unfortunately such people are now in power that were not the part of the freedom struggle and just to hang on in the power; these people are taking the help of lies. He said, “Some people are of the view that in last 70 years nothing happened in the country. Such people should read history. The British took away everything when they left India but now the country is capable of taking on any country of the world.’’ Exhorting the Congress party workers, the PCC president said that the people of the country are now looking at Congress party with great expectation so it is responsibility of the party workers that they should take up the challenge.

He added that the party workers should take on such people who are destroying the social fabric of the country.  Singh called upon the party workers to get united and face the forces which are attacking the democracy and constitutional values.

Kedarnath MLA Manoj Rawat, former minister Shurveer Singh Sajwan, Vice President Surya Kant Dhasmana, Jot Singh Bisht, Mathura Dut Joshi, Matbar Singh Kandari and others were present on the occasion.
