Find some time for governance, no law & order in Punjab: Sukhbir to Capt

Monday, 27 May 2019 | PNS | Chandigarh

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Badal on Sunday asked the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to find sometime for the governance in the State as law and order is a complete shambles in Punjab. Condemning the police high handedness against peacefully agitating Sikhs sitting in dharna at the Naradoo chowk on Patiala-Rajpura road, he said that the Chief Minister “seems totally indifferent to what is going on in the state”.

Expressing shock and revulsion over reports of the rape of a four-year-old girl child in Sangrur the other day, Sukhbir said that this was not a one-off incident. “There have been shocking incidents of rapes and murder throughout the state and there is no security of life and property here,” he said.

He asked the CM if he would take direct responsibility for all rapes and murders in the state, as he used to blame the CM during the tenure of the SAD-BJP government? “"The people of Punjab keep looking for their Chief Minister whose whereabouts have become one of the biggest mysteries. Even his cabinet colleagues and bureaucrats are in the dark about where their CM is. Punjab has become a headless state,” he said.

SAD chief said that Capt emerged from his pleasure dome briefly during the poll campaign. “Other than that, the only time the people hear about their Chief Minister is when Amarinder holds forth on his opponents within the party. Already, the constant comic confrontation between the CM and Navjot Sidhu has dissipated the energies of the government...That is the only governmental activity taking place in the state,” he quipped.
