Tuesday, 11 June 2019 | PNS | Jabalpur

Panic prevailed in North block of Jabalpur High Court after massive short circuit borne fire broke out at the first floor in the evening on Monday.

Half a dozen fire tender vehicles were pressed into service to pacify the fire which broke at court number 11 at around 6 pm. The fire tenders took around an hour to completely pacify the fire.

There was no casualty and no one was injured due to summer vacations and very few men were present at the High Court premises. The fire could have created havoc in the normal days of court proceedings as large number of people attend High Court.

Massive damaged occurred to the furniture which was wooden at the court room. After witnessing smoke emitting out from the North block of the premises fire tenders were informed. As soon as news spread senior police officials reached the spot and took stock of the situation.

The fire which started at first floor spread to the ground floor and damaged goods. The furniture kept near staircase of first and ground floor caught fire due to which it took massive shape. The reason behind the fire remained unclear and would be investigated. In the initial investigation it was found to be short circuit borne.

Security guard at the premises informed the fire brigade and other officials and tried to pacify the fire with the help of fire extinguishers at the premises but it helped little as the fire took massive shape due to wooden furniture. The big concern which emerged after the fire was damage to the documents which is yet to confirm that to what extent and how important documents are damaged.
