In his bid to transform Puri into a world heritage city, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday appointed five IAS probationers to assist in execution of various development projects in the town.
The 2018-batch IAS officers are Suryavanshi Mayur Vikash, Keerthi Vashan V, Dr Shubhankar Mohapatra, J Sonal and Bhuvnesh Devidas Patil.
They were appointed to assist the Puri district Collector and would remain in-charge of implementation of projects worth Rs 500 crore allotted by the State Government for Puri, a release from Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) stated.
The projects include development, rehabilitation, conservation of mutts and tightening of security near the Jagannath Temple.
Before joining their duty, they met Chief Advisor to CMO R Balkrishnan and CM’s Secretary of Transformation and Initiatives (5Ts) VK Pandian, who briefed them about their roles and responsibilities.
Recently, the Chief Minister has announced a Rs 500-crore mega project for development of Puri. Earlier, a Rs 265-crore plan had been announced for infrastructure development under the Augmentation of Basic Amenities and Development of Heritage and Architecture (ABADHA) scheme.
