Focus on safety, security of women: L-G to police

In a monthly review meeting, Lieutenant Governor (L-G), Anil Baijal directed Delhi Police to focus on those projects which are related to safety and security of women and senior citizens. The L-G also reviewed present status and future plans of Delhi Police in the use of latest technology.

The meeting was attended by Amulya Patnaik Delhi Commissioner of Police (CP), Special CPs and Joint CPs of Delhi Police. Delhi Police made a unit-wise detailed presentation on various ongoing and upcoming technology projects of Delhi Police.

“Projects relating to information technology, licensing, special cell, modernization unit, operations and communication, cyber cell and crime branch were reviewed,” said

“During the meeting LG was apprised about the present status and future plans of integration of all applications including automation of licensing process, replacement of existing digital trunked radio system, procurement of cyber cell equipment, new system for automated finger and palm print identification system (AFPIS), safe city project (Artificial Intelligence powered Surveillance) and setting up of malware forensic lab,” said spokesperson of Delhi Police.

LG was also informed about use of technology in various projects in Traffic and its present status and future plans. “The projects included the cantilever mounted automatic speed violation detection system covering 100 locations in Delhi, laser speed guns, procurement of e-challan system on turnkey basis through NIC, installation of GPS system in 615 motor cycles and 85 gypsies and other vehicles and modification of motorcycles of Traffic Unit,” said the spokesperson.

LG emphasized that the projects needs to be prioritized and taken up in a phased manner to ensure time bound completion.
