Assuring stringent action against the guilty, Punjab Food and Civil Supplies Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu on Monday informed the delegation of Arthiya Association that the Department observes zero-tolerance towards lapses in procurement operations.
He informed that a departmental enquiry is on and the alleged guilty of irregularities in procurement operation in Gurdaspur have been placed under suspension with
immediate effect. Besides, an FIR has also been registered against the accused, he
said.
Those suspended include Assistant Food Supply Officer (AFSO) from Sri Hargobindpur area of Gurdaspur Jaswinder Singh and Food Inspector Sandeep Singh.
Pertinently, an arhtiya Jagjit Singh of Ghuman village in Gurdaspur allegedly died due to irregularities in procurement of his stock of paddy. A delegation of Arthiya Association, under Vijay Kalra and Amarjit Singh Brar, called upon the Minister at Anaj Bhawan Chandigarh on Monday, seeking an action against the accused.
