Food processing companies to assist in relief operations ‘

Thursday, 22 August 2019 | PNS | Chandigarh

Various food processing companies have agreed to donate dry ration for flood-stricken people of Punjab. The companies’ agreement came in response to an appeal made by the Union Food Processing Industries Minister and SAD’s MP from Bathinda Harsimrat Kaur Badal.

Harsimrat, on Wednesday, announced that the food processing companies had responded generously to her appeal and the dry ration including milk powder, biscuits, ready to eat snacks as well as one lakh liters of beverages and bottled water would be distributed among the affected people in the coming days.

Thanking the food companies for this noble gesture, Harsimrat also appealed to the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) workers as well as volunteers at large to assist in distribution of the relief material.

She also urged the people to assist her in identifying the worst affected places so that relief work could be prioritized accordingly.

“Volunteers can share such locations with me,” she said adding that she would personally supervise the distribution of the relief material in the next few days.
