Now, reaching and boarding a bus from the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) Kashmere Gate will be much more easier as the Delhi Transport Infrastructure Development Corporation (DTIDC) is extending the existing Foot over Bridge (FOB) on Ring Road to the bus terminal to provide a direct connectivity from the Road to the bus terminal.
The Fob expected to be opened by this week and will a big relief to the pedestrians going to metro stations and the bus depot. The bridge has been integrated with the ISBT terminal as well as directly to the Ring Road from where a person can easily reach metro station and bus stand using this bridge.
“This FOB will provide a conflict-free connectivity to the terminal from the ring road. Currently, the commuters only have the close connectivity to the metro station but now the people who use Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) Bus to reach the ISBT can now easily reach the station by using this FOB. Also, commuters coming from Wazirabad and nearby parts use to take a long way to reach metro station but now, with the FOB, one can directly reach the metro station as well the terminal,” said a transport official.
Further, the DTIDC has also installed baggage scanning machines, separate metal detector gates for men and women passengers in the entrance for security passengers. The estimated budget of the FOB is around Rs 2.5 crore.
As per the sources, around five lakh people from different nearby states arrive and depart from Delhi through Kashmere Gate ISBT. Also, the daily ridership of Kashmere gate metro station is three Lakh. “Security system is very important as lakhs of people daily travel through this ISBT. Security checking facilities have been installed as well as the staffs will be deployed for checking. Further to keep the ramp clean and safe, security guards will be deployed to stop the unwanted enroachment,” said the official.
