With tendu-leaves collection season coming to an end in Chhattisgarh, the illegal transportation has spiked in border areas of the state.
Recently illegal tendu leaves smuggled into the state from outside were seized as the law enforcers increased vigil to curb the illegal trade.
Principal Chief Forest Conservator Rakesh Chaturvedi held a video-conference with all the forest division officials, wherein he directed them to take stern action against illegal consignment of tendu leaves entering from other bordering states.
During night patrolling in Raghunathpur range, bordering Uttar Pradesh, around 25 people was caught with more than 10 motor-cycles loaded with illegal tendu leaves.
Similarly, at Dhamni range also bordering UP, a TATA magic was intercepted with around 52,000 bundles of illegal tendu leaves worth around Rs 2 lakh.
In Balrampur district, Ram Nagar Kala village of Balrampur range near Jharkhand border, 5 motorcycles were seized for illegally transporting tendu leaves.
Legal action is being initiated in the cases.
