Friday, 11 January 2019 | PNS | DALTONGANJ

Nilamber Pitamber University, which will become 10 years old on January 17 has decided to have chief guest in Dr A A Khan former VC of Ranchi University here.

Informing this vice chancellor of NP University S N Singh said here on Thursday,  “Khan Sir has given his consent to be the chief guest  in the 10thEstablishment Day function of this university which is slated for January 17. His arrival and presence will revive the old memories as this university was carved out of the RU Ranchi when he was the VC there.”

The VC said the university is mooting a plan to set up its Reserve Fund.  He said this is no corpus fund.

Reserve Fund’s interests that accrue in multi lakhs will be utilized in other developmental works of the university. Singh said, “We look forward to its approval by university’s Finance committee.”

As no State university is free to appoint third grade staff since it is to be done by SSC the NPU has shortlisted three agencies to supply staff like operators, peons, night guards etc here.

The VC said there is an acute crunch of third grade staff where 52 posts are vacant. “We have no idea as to when these vacant posts will be filled up by SSC,” added the VC.

Singh said, “We are set to launch two new courses. One is Yoga and Value Education. It is to be carried on with logistics to come from Brahma Kumari Ishwarya University whose head quarter is Mount Aboo but here it has its full fledged unit. It is a diploma course”

“The other course is Bachelor of Library & Information Science.

There is no professional librarian in any of our unit here. We are making do with this problem on a makeshift arrangement” said VC.

VC said the government is committed to have at least one government degree college in each of the Assembly constituency.

However work for government Degree College has got stuck up in Chhaterpur Assembly constituency because the land identified for this college has turned out to be of the forest department and without forest clearance no spade work can be done.

The VC said in Hussainabad where too a government degree college is to come up is caught in mesh there as here the land meant for the college is less than 5 acres. Five acres is a must in rural areas and there is no relaxation on this count added VC.

He conceded that Manika Degree College in Manika a tribal heartland is languishing for want of teachers in departments of English and Psychology.

Work is in full swing for Model Degree College in Latehar and one Mahila college too in Latehar.

NPU is to hold interstate Kabbadi tournament for its Chancellor’s Trophy which is most expected to be conducted this February informed VC.

On a fixed monthly emolument of Rupees 15,000 the NPU is to rope in toppers of 18 subjects to work as Teaching Assistants here added VC and the expenses on it are to be met by the internal resources of the university.

Setting up of virtual Class room for online teaching is also on the anvil of this university he stated.

The NPU is in receipt of fund for this worth more than 2 crores.  He said students’ grievance redressal cells in colleges have been further activated.
