Four killed, 8 injured in road mishaps

Four persons were killed and eight others injured in three separate road mishaps in Cuttack and Kendrapada and Subarnapur districts.

A person was killed and five others injured when a bus collided with a truck from the behind near the Khaira bridge at Jagatpur in Cuttack district early on Saturday morning. The injured persons were admitted to the SCB Medical College Hospital, Cuttack.

In another mishap, a person died and three others were critically injured as a pickup van carrying members of a band party hit a cycle and fell into a water body near Chitraptola under the Patkura police limits in Kendrapada district at around 3 am.

The deceased was identified as Bharat Mallick (50) of Mehendipur village. The injured were first rushed to a nearby hospital and later shifted to the SCB Hospital. The incident occurred due to poor visibility for intense fog.

In yet another accident, two youths were killed after the bike by which they were travelling had a head-on collision with a truck on the Sonepur-Balangir road at Badajhinki on Friday evening. The deceased duo was identified as Ranjit Mallick (30) and Parameswar Baghar (25) of Phagunamala village under the Manmunda police stgation in Boudh district.
